# Setting a Yubikey PIN without Yubikey software.

When using Passkeys and SSH keys signed with a Yubikey (FIDO2), you will need to protect your Yubkey with a PIN.   While this can be done with software supplied by Yubico,  it is not necessary to load.   This documentation shows how to set up a Yubikey PIN without loading the Yubikey/Yubico software.
