# 1. Installation of Windows software.

You will need the Yubico PIV tool installed on your system. This can be obtained from:

<https://developers.yubico.com/yubico-piv-tool/Releases/>

Under the Windows section,  download and install the latest version MSI of the "yubico-piv-tool".  This will be listed under either -win32.msi or -win64.mis.   This will install the `libykcs11.dll` and `yubico-piv-tool.exe`.&#x20;

The `libykcs11.dll` will be used by your Yubikey and SSH. &#x20;

The `yubico-piv-tool.exe` to enroll your Yubikey as a Smartcard/PIV device.
